High Throughput Bioanalytical Leader, Principal or Senior Principal Scientist, Northeast Pharmaceutical Company, Position 442

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The successful candidate will work within a core ADME technology group and lead an early drug discovery bioanalytical laboratory performing quantitative and qualitative analysis of in-vitro ADME samples supporting therapeutic area research projects and specialized assays.  This position requires a willingness and ability to perform as a team member with complementary biology labs to develop, implement and organize ADME biology/biochemistry studies. 

 

RESPONSIBILITES:

 

·        Guide 4-6 scientists and oversee day to day operations of a bioanalytical laboratory
(includes adhering to appropriate safety and policy procedures and reagent/supply ordering)

·        Design, develop and implement bioanalytical methods (primarily liquid
chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry) to qualitatively and/or quantitatively determine
drug compounds in in-vitro biological matrices

·        Ability to validate new bioanalytical methods by applying sound scientific principles

·        Biochemical and analytical operation of several in-vitro assays

·        Ensure data quality and turnaround time is of a standard suitable for the needs of partnering colleagues

·        Evaluation and implementation of new analytical/bioanalytical technologies

·        Work within the broader organization to develop and implement new technologies which
may include in-vitro assays, analytical advances, imaging, etc

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

MINIMUM:

 

·        M.S. 5-7 years, Ph.D. 2-5 years working in an industrial bioanalytical chemistry laboratory

·        Demonstrate a depth of scientific and technical knowledge in the area of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry commensurate with current experts in the field

·        Possess strong communication and writing skills

·        Strong ability to manage several projects simultaneously

·        Capable of managing work activities (timelines and schedules)

·        Ability to work effectively and comfortably in a matrixed group environment

 

DESIRABLE:

 

·        M.S. Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field

·        Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry

·        Proven track record of bioanalytical scientific achievement established through poster/oral presentation or publication in peer reviewed journals

·        Basic understanding of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics

·        Experience in low flow rate LC-MS techniques

·        Experience developing and/or applying low detection limit capability LC-MS techniques for drug compound or metabolite identification

·        Supervisory experience

 

The ideal candidate will posess strong analytical and organizational skills, good interpersonal interactions and a desire for continually improving analytical processes.  Ability to work within, and support, a team environment is imperative.  Knowledge of drug metabolism fundamentals, such as metabolic stability and absorption is desired.
