MS People's attention to confidentiality draws in many candidates who are reluctant to apply directly to a company or submit their CVs to the large on-line job sites. Typical education and experience are a B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Analytical or Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or Mass Spectrometry and a few to many years experience in the Pharmaceutical, Biotech or Instrument Company industries.

We select among the best and most promising candidates for introduction to our clients. We will usually broaden our client's search significantly, and locate candidates they might otherwise miss.

Pre-screening

MS People pre-screens potential candidates to insure they are a good fit for the position. As mass spectrometrists, we are able to speak in an informed manner with both client and candidate. We can get a good feeling for specific skills.

We see our job as one of matchmaker between client and candidate. We do not flood our clients with inappropriate candidates. Instead, within the space of a week or two from being given an assignment, (if not right away), we send our clients a few excellent choices for the position.

How We Locate Potential Candidates

Our network includes a broad range of scientists involved with mass spectrometry. It is especially weighted towards the biotech, pharmaceutical and instrumentation industries.

Energy Barrier Reduction

We try to lower the "energy barrier" for our clients. Even if a match between client and candidate is excellent in every respect, there are often significant obstacles to overcome prior to placement, especially at the higher levels. A "catalyst" may be needed to work through concerns on both sides, even if the match is fundamentally a good one.

In some cases, it is very important that confidentiality be maintained for the candidate during their job search so that their current position is not compromised. We are able to maintain confidentiality at a very high level if necessary. Our normal mode of work is to assume confidentiality unless the candidate is a student soon to graduate. We will normally discuss which level is important for the candidate prior to presenting them to potential employers.

Be noticed

Suitability for a position is not always enough for the candidate. You must also appear on the hiring manager's radar screen. If you go through MS People, and after discussing your situation, it appears to us you are a strong candidate, you WILL be noticed by the hiring manager. This is not always true when you apply online. Online applications often never get seen by the hiring manager even if the candidate is well qualified.

Working Environment and Culture

We attempt to learn exactly what a specific job is like including working environment, corporate culture, and job responsibilities and skills required. We feel it is a good long-term business practice to achieve the best possible client / candidate match. We will only try to encourage a good match.

Tactful Negotiation of Salary

We are in a position to act as a tactful go-between for discussing compensation. Sometimes unreasonable expectations on either side can forestall an agreement which would otherwise be a good match.
